Occupational Therapy UHBW

Occupational Therapists at the BHOC work to enable patients to participate in everyday meaningful tasks to the best of their ability in order to help improve quality of life. This maybe through advice, techniques or specialist equipment with the aim to increasing function and independence.

The aim is to manage fatigue, breathlessness, pain and to provide emotional support. It may also include measures to adapt home environments to enable care to continue after discharge from hospital.
For palliative patients there are some funded hours from the Palliative Care Team. There are currently no directly funded outpatient OT services.
